May. 8th, 2025 12:34 pmI have had Linux on the brain for a solid two weeks now trying out a new tiling approach and Wayland for the first time, then briefly trying EndeavourOS before going "nah we have rolling release and fancy package management at home", taking the EndeavourOS Sway community edition package list, and booting back into my regular Void Linux box.
I also discovered theming after a quarter century on Linux, and I'm delighted to report I'm just as particular about color schemes as ever and I have landed firmly right back where I started, on Breeze Dark (but I have nice colorful icons and cursors now!)
I had a choir concert last week that I have been preparing hard for for the last two months and am getting a brief breather before the next round of concerts next month (Pride Concerts coming soon to a queer chorus near you!)
I've been experimenting with the Fediverse via wafrn, which is a tumblr-like blogging software interoperable with Fediverse programs and accounts and Bluesky (the link is to the instance of wafrn I'm on, it's self-hostable like any other fediverse program). It's very chaotic and quite fun for me!I've been wanting away to keep up with folks on mastodon and bluesky in particular without having to actually use a Twitter-like micro-blogging site and this fits the bill quite nicely. I'll probably end up self-hosting an instance for Yours Truly and No One Else and migrating my account there. (Long term, I want to be able to host my own social media and federate out to everyone else I want to interact with--I always want to keep my data on my own devices. It's why I've had a tumblr backup running on a cron job for several years now!)
And that's the news from my corner of the internet!
